Proper Hand-Washing: What You Need to Know

Everything you read and watch these days, reminds you to wash your hands to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Correct hand-washing techniques have always been extremely important, but it is now more important than ever.

Here Are The Steps:

  1. Wet your hands with (hot or cold) running water. Apply soap.
  2. Lather by rubbing your hands together after applying the soap. Make sure to get every inch of your hand.
  3. Scrub for a minimum of 20 seconds.
  4. Rinse well.
  5. Dry your hands with a clean towel or air dry.

When To Wash Your Hands:

  • Before, during, and after preparing food
  • Before eating food
  • Before and after caring for someone who is sick
  • Before and after treating a wound
  • After using the toilet
  • After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
  • After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste
  • After touching pet food or treats
  • After touching garbage

Other Tips to Help Prevent the Spread of COVID-19:

Practice social distancing

This will help contain the spread of the virus, especially for those individuals who have a higher risk of infection.


Try to stay home as much as possible. If it’s not an essential trip, do not leave. That also means, when buying items at the grocery stores, keep in mind, other families and individuals.

Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing

It is extremely easy to spread this virus since the droplets can be inhaled into the lungs.
