How To Keep Your New Year's Resolution

How To Keep Your New Year's Resolution

It seems like every year, we all set a New Year’s Resolution, then we end up quitting by the third week of January. But, not this year!

If you've already slacked on your resolution, it’s not too late to start it again and finish the month strong.

Here are 3 tips to help you reach & keep your goal!

  1. Set Realistic Goals for Yourself

Be realistic, if you haven’t been doing something for the past year, it will be extremely difficult to start doing it now. Not to worry! If you start with small increments then increase slowly, this will make it an easier transition from resolution to habit.

For example, if you haven’t been to the gym since last year’s resolution, it will be extremely hard for your body to exercise every day now. Start small by going to the gym or going for a walk once a week, then twice. Slowly build up the amount of time you spend exercising until you are in the habit of doing it several times a week.

  1. Be Specific

Rather than saying: "I want to go to the gym more often" or "I would like to lose some weight", set a goal for yourself. Say instead: "I want to take a yoga class twice a week." Even if you don’t reach your goal right away, you will eventually so don't give up!

  1. Ask Your Friends And Family For Support

There is no shame in asking for help ever. Ask a family member or friend to be your exercise partner. That way, you can both keep each other motivated and accountable.

Sharing your goals with others is a great way to make sure you stick with them. Plus, you can ask your workout partner for help when you're trying new things.
