The New Year is in full swing! Many people have set their resolutions and goals for the new year. A very common goal is to eat healthier and give your body the energy and fuel it needs to live a healthy lifestyle. 

A great tip for eating healthy is to start small. Life can get crazy and busy, and so a great way to start small is to pack or prepare your lunch at home, instead of going out to eat, or picking it up at a restaurant on the go. 

Below are 5 healthy lunch ideas for you to try and pack for your week! 

1. Chicken Burrito Bowl

For this recipe you will need:

  • Chicken
  • Bell peppers
  • Onion
  • Olive Oil
  • Taco seasoning 
  • Jar of salsa
  • Brown or white rice
  • Black beans
  • Corn
  • Cheese
  • Lime

Directions: Add the chicken, peppers, and onions to a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle the seasoning over the chicken breasts and top each chicken breast with salsa. Bake for about 25 minutes. Pour all of the contents from the baking sheet over brown or white rice, and top with cheese and corn.

2. Turkey Spinach Pinwheels

For this recipe you will need: 

  • Garden vegetable cream cheese
  • Spinach or flour tortillas
  • Spinach leaves 
  • Sliced turkey 

Directions: Spread the cream cheese evenly over the spinach wrap. Top with the sliced turkey and spinach leaves and roll up tightly. Slice the rolls crosswise into 1 in. slices. These are super easy to eat on the go, or as a little snack!

3. Steak Cobb Salad

For this recipe you will need:

  • Steak
  • Olive Oil
  • Hard-boiled egg
  • Baby spinach leaves
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Pecans
  • Crumbled feta cheese

Directions: Assemble the salad with spinach leaves first. Top with rows of steak, a hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, pecans, and feta cheese. Drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette, or your favorite salad dressing.

4. Orzo Spinach Salad

For this recipe you will need:

  • Orzo pasta
  • Spinach leaves
  • Feta cheese
  • Red onion
  • Pine nuts
  • Dried basil
  • Olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar

Directions: Boil the orzo for about 8-10 minutes, drain and rinse with cold water. Stir the drained orzo with the spinach, feta, onion, pine nuts, and basil. Toss with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, refrigerate and enjoy cold.

5. Hummus Wraps

For this recipe you will need: 

  • Flour or spinach tortilla
  • Hummus
  • Cucumber
  • Spinach leaves
  • Tomato
  • Avocado 

Directions: Spread the hummus evenly to the bottom of the tortilla. Add in the cucumber, spinach leaves, tomato, avocado, and any other veggies you would like in the wrap. Wrap up the tortilla tightly in a roll.
